Lê Minh Thuấn transitions from villain roles to historical drama

Vietnamese actor Lê Minh Thuấn is gaining recognition for his diverse roles in recent cinematic projects. After a decade in the industry, including a period working as a laborer, he has transitioned from playing villains in films like ‘Mưa đỏ’ to taking on complex historical characters.

In the martial arts period film ‘Hộ linh tráng sĩ - Bí ẩn mộ Vua Đinh’, Thuấn portrays a head eunuch. This role is noted for being one of the first depictions of a eunuch in the Đại Cồ Việt era on screen, designed to reflect authentic Vietnamese cultural elements such as traditional mask painting and Tuồng opera rather than following foreign cinematic tropes.

To prepare for the role, Thuấn underwent five to six months of intensive training at the Liên Phong martial arts school and consulted historical experts to master the specific gestures, posture, and mannerisms required for the character.
