Lê Thị Riêng School Opens in Ho Chi Minh City After Former District 12 UBND Building Converted

The former People's Committee (UBND) building of District 12 in Ho Chi Minh City, covering more than 3.2 ha, is being transformed into a new public school named after martyr Lê Thị Riêng. The school will serve primary, secondary and high‑school levels and is scheduled to open on 5 September 2026 for the 2026‑2027 academic year.

Renovation work includes the conversion of 46 rooms into classrooms and functional spaces such as a computer lab, language rooms and sports facilities. The campus will accommodate 775 students—455 in grade 10 and around 80 % of grade 1 and 90 % of grade 6 applicants—who will study in two daily shifts, with 100 % boarding capacity available.

The project, overseen by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, marks a significant milestone for the densely‑populated Thới An ward, which previously lacked a high school. As the principal noted, "when the winning contractor is identified, they will work day and night to prepare the facilities for the new school’s opening."
