Vietnam appoints new Deputy Ministers and bans forced labor imports

The Vietnamese government has implemented several significant administrative and regulatory changes. Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng signed decisions to appoint new Deputy Ministers: Nguyễn Việt Sơn has been appointed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Lê Trọng Yên, formerly Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong People's Committee, has been appointed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In terms of trade regulation, Decree 292/2026/NĐ-CP, effective September 5, 2026, prohibits the import of goods produced through forced labor. This new framework aligns with International Labour Organization (ILO) standards and covers various sectors including textiles, footwear, electronics, and household goods.

Additionally, the Government issued Resolution 66/2026/NQ-CP to resolve management issues regarding industrial zones, geology, and minerals. This resolution reassigns specific state management functions and duties among the Ministries of Finance, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Construction to streamline oversight.
