L3Harris to supply power systems for U.S. Navy submarines
L3Harris Technologies is expanding its role in supporting the U.S. Navy by providing high-capacity power distribution systems and universal modular masts for the Columbia-class submarine program. This work builds upon the company’s established role in supplying these systems for the entire Virginia-class fleet.
The company’s technology is designed to manage the increasing electrical demands of next-generation naval platforms. As the Navy transitions toward advanced radars, new propulsion architectures, and directed-energy weapons—which utilize electricity as a primary munition—shipboard electrical infrastructures must become significantly more robust.
L3Harris’s maritime portfolio includes power conversion tools, switchgear, and protection systems engineered to withstand extreme depths, manage heat, and ensure electromagnetic compatibility. Additionally, the company’s telescopic masts allow for the deployment of electronic warfare sensors and communication antennas without compromising the vessel’s pressurized hull.
