L3Harris validates Viper Shield EW system on paired F‑16s in US flight tests
L3Harris Technologies completed the first two‑aircraft flight tests of its Viper Shield electronic‑warfare system on F‑16C and F‑16D fighters at Edwards Air Force Base, California. The tests demonstrated the system’s ability to detect, identify and counter modern radar‑guided threats while operating alongside the aircraft’s existing avionics, confirming its digital architecture and real‑time response across multiple mission profiles.
The milestone moves Viper Shield closer to operational service for international F‑16 operators, reducing integration risk and expanding the test envelope to realistic multi‑ship formations. Lauren Barnes, President of Spectrum Superiority at L3Harris, said, “The two‑ship flights with Viper Shield are another strong example that the system is performing as intended.”
