L7 begins farewell world tour
Los Angeles punk rock band L7 has launched a farewell world tour, marking the end of a career defined by both their aggressive musical style and their commitment to feminist activism.
Founded in 1985, the band has been led by founding members Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner. Following the recent passing of original bassist Jennifer Finch, Janis Tanaka has joined the lineup. The band’s live performances are noted for their high energy and heavy sound, often drawing comparisons to the grunge era.
Beyond music, L7 has a significant history of political engagement. In 1991, the band helped organize ‘Rock for Choice’ alongside the Feminist Majority Foundation to combat anti-abortion extremist violence and support reproductive rights. This initiative helped build a community that paved the way for subsequent feminist movements in music.
