L7 releases new single ‘Loma Linda’ and announces bassist return

American alternative rock band L7 has released a new single titled ‘Loma Linda’, marking their first new music in three years. The track originated from unfinished recordings dating back to approximately 2003, during the period when bassist Janis Tanaka was previously a member of the band.

The release serves as a tribute to long-time bassist Jennifer Finch, who passed away in July due to a brain tumor. Following Finch’s wishes to proceed with the band’s planned farewell tour, Janis Tanaka has rejoined L7 to take over bass duties.

Band member Donita Sparks stated that while searching through the band’s archives, they discovered the unfinished track and found it sounded fresh and characteristic of the L7 style. The band completed the song by re-recording vocals with new lyrics and adding additional instrumentation. The single is available on streaming services and YouTube, with a limited one-week free download available on the band’s official website. L7 is scheduled to begin their final world tour on October 6 in San Diego.
