La Altagracia 2030 Strategic Plan aims for sustainable tourism

The ‘Plan Estratégico La Altagracia 2030: Aportes para un destino turístico sostenible’ has been presented to provide a framework for sustainable development in one of the Dominican Republic’s most dynamic tourism provinces. The presentation took place at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) with participation from the Diocese of Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia, Adompretur, and Altagracia Estratégica.

The strategic plan focuses on the environment surrounding tourism activities, an area the authors claim has received insufficient attention. Key areas of study include environmental impacts, population growth, mobility, transportation, communications, infrastructure, and the quality of services available to local communities.

Technical coordinator Julio César Corral noted that the study examines the territory's transformation over the last 15 years and projects future directions based on current growth rates. The research specifically addresses variables such as population expansion, increased vehicle flow, and the status of coastal-marine ecosystems to identify necessary interventions for projected growth.
