La Araucanía authorities highlight female leadership in culture and industry
In the La Araucanía region of Chile, authorities have highlighted the growing role of women in both cultural and industrial sectors. To commemorate International Day of Indigenous Women, the National Corporation for Indigenous Development (CONADI) held a ceremony in Temuco to honor ten Mapuche women for their leadership in cultural and productive fields.
During the event, Minister of Social Development and Family María Jesús Wulf noted that women currently represent 70% of the beneficiaries of the Indigenous Development Fund. The ceremony aimed to recognize the importance of women in preserving ancestral knowledge and driving economic autonomy.
In a separate regional development, the Seremi of Women and Gender Equality, Carolina Lagos, visited the Catripulli fish farm operated by Hendrix Genetics in Curarrehue. The visit highlighted the significant female presence in the salmon industry, noting that women comprise 50% of the workforce at the facility.
