Chile implements regional economic and entrepreneurship initiatives
Various regional initiatives in Chile are focusing on economic development, entrepreneurship, and industrial sustainability. In La Araucanía, the Universidad Católica de Temuco, in collaboration with FOSIS and DEDECON, held seminars to assist local entrepreneurs with tax regulations and business formalization. Additionally, FOSIS launched support programs in Angol and Renaico, providing training and financing to 131 participants, including caregivers.
In the aquaculture sector, SalmonChile and other organizations are working to integrate entrepreneurs with industry expertise in Los Lagos. Meanwhile, SOFOFA is developing a roadmap for the ‘Blue Economy’ through 2050 to enhance sustainable marine industry development. In Aysén, a new sustainable pier at Lago La Paloma was inaugurated using repurposed salmon farming infrastructure, demonstrating circular economy principles.
Broader economic efforts include the ‘Plan Chile Despega’ in Valparaíso, aimed at generating over 28,000 jobs through public works and investment acceleration. In the Biobío region, authorities are seeking to attract Mexican investment in mining and infrastructure, while the Municipality of Temuco provided over 450 commercial spaces to support local small businesses.
