La Araucanía farmers receive emergency aid following climate damage
Agricultural producers in the La Araucanía region of Chile are receiving emergency aid following severe weather events and flooding that damaged crops and pastures.
In Teodoro Schmidt, 142 farmers have begun receiving a 200,000 CLP emergency agricultural bonus. This initiative is funded by the La Araucanía Regional Government and managed by the Institute for Agricultural Development (INDAP) to support small producers affected by recent climate events.
In Temuco, more than 80 farmers received approximately 20,000 kilograms of concentrated animal feed to mitigate the loss of natural pasture caused by heavy rains and flooding between late August and mid-September. This distribution, which includes 75 farmers from the Indigenous Territorial Development Program (PDTI), aims to ensure livestock survival while soil and pastures recover from inundation.
