La Araucanía Governor accuses Regional Council of fund manipulation

A political conflict has emerged within the La Araucanía Regional Government in Chile. Governor René Saffirio has accused the Regional Council (CORE) of manipulating the allocation of approximately 10 billion pesos from the 8% FNDR fund to favor specific organizations through hand-picked selection processes.

Saffirio claims that the council attempted to bypass projects with higher technical scores to include others favored by the members. In response, the 20 regional councilors have unanimously rejected these accusations, demanding a public rectification and apology from the governor. The dispute has stalled the distribution of resources intended for social organizations across 32 communes in the region.
