La Axarquía grape production faces 40% loss from heat
Agricultural producers in La Axarquía, Málaga, are facing significant losses in moscatel grape production due to prolonged high temperatures. ASAJA Málaga has warned that the heat has caused severe dehydration in the fruit just as the harvest season was set to begin.
Initial estimates suggest that crop losses could reach approximately 40% of the planned campaign. The thermal stress has significantly impacted the fruit's evolution and reduced the volume available for commercialization. ASAJA Málaga has requested an official technical assessment from the Delegation of Agriculture to quantify the exact extent of the damage and determine necessary support for farmers in high-production areas such as El Borge and Almáchar.
