La Banda infant dies after choking on meat during dinner

A baby aged approximately one year and three months to one year and six months died in the early hours of the weekend in La Banda, Santiago del Estero, after choking on meat during a family dinner.

The child's mother noticed the infant was not reacting and immediately transported him to the Centro Integral de Salud Banda. Due to the severity of the condition, which included cyanosis and hypotonia caused by lack of oxygen, medical staff transferred the child to the Centro Provincial de Salud Infantil. Despite resuscitation efforts by medical teams, the infant passed away around 0:30.

Prosecutor José Piña has ordered an autopsy to determine the precise causes of death. The body has been moved to the judicial morgue, and authorities are interviewing family members to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
