La Banda officials request restoration of Retiro-Tucumán passenger train

The Deliberative Council of La Banda has submitted a formal request to the Argentine national government to restore the passenger rail service connecting Retiro in Buenos Aires with San Miguel de Tucumán.

Proposed by the Frente Renovador, the project emphasizes the historical importance of the railway for the region. Councilwoman Stella Mirolo stated that the service is essential for students, workers, retirees, and families who require safe, accessible, and affordable transportation. The initiative argues that reinstating the service, with a stop at the La Banda station, would strengthen connectivity between Santiago del Estero and the rest of the country, fostering economic, social, educational, and touristic development.
