La Banda residents report dangerous snake sightings after heavy rains
Following heavy rains, residents in La Banda, specifically in the Mama Antula neighborhood, have reported the presence of dangerous snakes in drainage systems and near homes. Neighbors expressed concern regarding the potential for these reptiles to enter residences and pose a threat to children and pets.
The Secretariat of State for Environment and Sustainable Development has issued recommendations to protect families and pets. Authorities advise that dogs and cats should be supervised and kept away from flooded areas, debris, or storm-affected sectors. It is recommended to inspect yards and storage areas before allowing pets to roam.
Regarding venomous animals such as spiders, scorpions, and snakes like the yarará or rattlesnake, officials urge the public to maintain distance and not attempt to capture, manipulate, or kill them. If a potentially venomous animal is spotted, taking a photograph from a safe distance can assist specialists in identification.
