La Baule designates 2027 as the year of aviation

The city of La Baule-Escoublac has announced that 2027 will be dedicated to the theme of aviation. This decision coincides with the 110th anniversary of the local aerodrome, a site significant for training many commercial pilots.

Laurent Gorgues, president of Flying La Baule and a former Air France captain, will volunteer to coordinate the year's events. The municipal program aims to balance historical memory with modern innovation, focusing on pilot training, tourism, and decarbonization.

The initiative comes as the global aviation sector shows significant recovery and growth following the pandemic, with increased demand for aircraft and personnel in the industry.
