La Bella Luz orchestra undergoes leadership overhaul amid abuse allegations

Oscar Junior, known as “Senderito,” announced he will assume absolute control of the Peruvian orchestra La Bella Luz. In his first statement he condemned former member Héctor Boza and pledged a comprehensive restructuring that includes ongoing psychological evaluations, strict internal protocols and the purchase of a gender‑segregated bus for travel. The move follows a series of abuse accusations involving singer Naldy Saldaña and former musical director César Sánchez, as well as public criticism from founder Óscar Custodio toward former singers Baruj Ocharán and Fiorella Castillo.

The controversy has sparked protests from current vocalists, who reported threats and demanded justice. Custodio blamed rival groups for the scandal, while Ocharán and Castillo, who have left the ensemble, claimed they were also victims of harassment. The leadership change and restructuring aim to restore confidence among musicians, staff and fans.
