Spain municipalities advance local housing, education, and infrastructure projects

Various Spanish municipalities are implementing local infrastructure and social programs. In Madrid, the Plan Rehabilita has invested 318 million euros since 2020, subsidizing 1,553 elevators and impacting over 110,000 homes to improve accessibility for the elderly and those with mobility issues. Additionally, the Madrid City Council approved 12.2 million euros for 309 affordable housing units in Barajas and Tetuán, alongside climate conditioning for 40 nurseries.

Educational and urban developments are also underway. La Bisbal del Penedès is expanding the Ull de Vent school to consolidate students into a single building. In Gandia, a 2.6 million euro investment is set for the CEIP Mondúver reform. Tomelloso has allocated approximately 42,536 euros for school roof maintenance. In Benamahoma, urban documents have been approved to advance a hotel project, while Enguera has introduced a new forestry ordinance to manage private lands for wildfire prevention.

Social and housing concerns persist in other regions. In Granada, the PSOE has called for limits on tourist apartments to protect local residents from gentrification. In Euskadi, officials are looking toward the Vienna model of municipal housing to improve long-term urban planning.
