La Bola Negra achieves record-breaking box office success in Spain
The film “La Bola Negra,” directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, has become a major cinematic phenomenon in Spain. The production has surpassed €29.9 million in domestic revenue, making it the fourth highest-grossing Spanish film in history and the twelfth most-watched Spanish film in terms of total spectators.
Its commercial success has provided a significant boost to Spain’s independent film distribution sector. Industry experts from Adicine suggest that the momentum from this film could increase the market share of independent distributors from 12% to as high as 20% by the end of the year.
The film’s popularity coincided with the XXVII edition of the Fiesta del Cine, which saw its highest attendance levels since 2019, recording over 1.5 million spectators across the country. “La Bola Negra” was the most-watched title during the event, ranking as the fifth most-watched film in the history of the festival.
