La bola negra film explores Lorca’s queer legacy

The Spanish film ‘La bola negra’, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi (known as ‘Los Javis’), is gaining significant attention for its exploration of the queer legacy of poet Federico García Lorca. The film addresses historical aspects of Lorca’s life and sexuality that were long suppressed or treated as taboos in Spain, spanning from the Franco dictatorship into the democratic era.

Among the cast is Milo Quifes, a 24-year-old former TikTok creator with over one million followers. Quifes, who previously left his biology studies due to personal dissatisfaction and social anxiety, is making his acting debut in the production. His transition from social media to cinema marks a significant shift in his professional trajectory.
