La Caixa Foundation allocates €1.1 million to 35 social projects in Tarragona

The Fundación “la Caixa” will provide more than €1.1 million to fund 35 social projects selected for the Catalonia 2025 Social Projects Call in the province of Tarragona. The grant is part of a wider allocation of over €10.5 million for 331 projects across Catalonia, intended to assist roughly 122,000 people in vulnerable situations.

In Tarragona the funding will enable assistance for about 5,711 residents, focusing on three main areas: elderly care (6 %), disability, mental health or illness (42 %), and poverty and social inclusion (52 %). Projects operate within seven lines of action, including labour insertion, temporary residential resources, intercultural coexistence, promotion of healthy habits and emotional management, violence and addiction prevention, culture as a tool for inclusion, and digital inclusion. A new feature of the call increases the initial tranche of funding from 80 % to 90 % of the total aid.

The selection was presented at the fourth and final ceremony at CaixaForum Tarragona. Marc Simón, Sub‑Director General of Social Affairs at the Fundación “la Caixa”, said, “Our commitment to people who are facing difficulties or vulnerability is firm and sustained over time.”
