La Carlota: Man arrested after fatal hit-and-run involving teenager

Marcos Lucio Bella, 46, has been detained in La Carlota, Argentina, following a fatal traffic accident that killed a 17-year-old girl. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Amadeo Sabattini Street when the victim and two other 16-year-olds were walking along the shoulder of the road and were struck from behind by Bella’s vehicle.

Following the collision, the driver fled the scene. Investigators identified Bella through witness interviews and local surveillance footage. He was apprehended at his residence, where police also seized the vehicle involved. A preliminary breathalyzer test indicated a blood alcohol content of 1.77 g/l.

The Instruction Prosecutor's Office, led by Romina Wisnivetzky, has charged Bella with aggravated manslaughter due to fleeing the scene, as well as aggravated injury due to fleeing and multiple victims. Further investigations, including mechanical inspections of the vehicle, are ongoing.
