La Ciotat court orders illegal beach occupation to end within 48 hours

The Marseille Administrative Court has ordered companies occupying the Grande Plage in La Ciotat to vacate the premises and remove all installations within 48 hours. The ruling follows the expiration of occupation permits on December 31, 2025, which were not renewed by the municipality.

Authorities state that the continued commercial activity, specifically the rental of sun loungers, is illegal as the area belongs to the state's maritime public domain. Failure to comply with the court's injunction will result in a fine of 10,000 euros per day of delay. The prefecture emphasized that the move aims to restore free access to the beach for all users.
