La Città Dei Vivi film released in cinemas

The film ‘La Città Dei Vivi’, directed by Edoardo Gabbriellini, has officially been released in cinemas. Based on the novel by Nicola Lagioia, the drama reconstructs the 2016 murder of Luca Varani, who was killed by Marco Prato and Manuel Foffo.

Lead actor Emanuele Maria Di Stefano discussed the film’s use of the ‘f-word’ to describe the perpetrators. He noted that the term was used by the victim's girlfriend to reflect her shock and the societal misconceptions regarding the relationship between the killers, who were friends rather than a couple. The film aims to avoid sensationalism, focusing instead on the personal lives of the victim, his relationships, and the senseless nature of the crime rather than purely sociological explanations.
