La Coqueta restaurant closed by authorities in Rosarito

Authorities in Playas de Rosarito have closed the restaurant-bar La Coqueta, located in the Popotla commercial plaza. The establishment is owned by Alexis Molina Lugo, known as ‘Padrino Alexis’ and legal representative of the Jireh rehabilitation clinics, and his wife Sandra Gabriela Meléndrez Sam, known as ‘Madrina Sandra’.

The closure operation, carried out by the Municipal Police and the Verification Directorate, took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 8. The restaurant had only recently opened on July 19 following a social media campaign linked to the ‘Patrulla Espiritual’. During its inauguration, Meléndrez Sam noted that some staff members, including hostesses and waitresses, were residents of the Jireh women's rehabilitation center.

This enforcement action follows tensions between local authorities and leaders of the Patrulla Espiritual. Municipal President Rocío Adame Muñoz stated that permits for one of the rehabilitation centers in the area were under review, emphasizing that all entities must operate within the law and respect municipal workers.
