La Cuaba official requests alternative site for waste plant

Carlos Julio Montaño Ureña, the director of the La Cuaba municipal district, has formally requested that President Luis Abinader halt plans to install a landfill or solid waste disposal system in the Los Aguacates area.

Montaño Ureña stated that the project poses a significant threat to the environmental quality and tranquility of the local communities. He emphasized that the opposition is not against modern waste management solutions in general, but specifically against placing this burden on a region known for its ecological balance and natural conditions.

The municipal official appealed to the President’s social sensitivity, urging the government to evaluate alternative locations that do not jeopardize the community's quality of life or environmental future.
