La Cubana brings gastronomic comedy to Alicante

The veteran Spanish theater company La Cubana returns to Alicante after eight years with its new musical comedy, ‘La cuisine de ma cousine’. The production will run for 14 performances at the Teatro Principal from October 8 to 18, before continuing a tour through Altea, Vila-real, and Calpe.

The play centers on Brigitte Raventós, portrayed by actress Montse Amat, an international chef known for her ‘cuisine of feelings’. The story uses gastronomy as a comedic lens to explore modern social behaviors, such as the obsession with Michelin stars, the performative nature of dining, and the habit of photographing food for social media.

La Cubana is noted for its signature style, which blends humor, music, and a blurred line between fiction and reality. For the Alicante run, the company has integrated local elements into the narrative, portraying the protagonist as an adopted daughter of the city.
