La Derecha Diario expands to 11 countries amid disinformation claims

An investigation by the fact-checking initiative Los Desinformantes has revealed the expansion of La Derecha Diario, a digital media outlet operating in 11 countries, including Argentina, Spain, Colombia, and the United States. Founded in Argentina by political consultant Fernando Cerimedo, the outlet promotes “new right” ideologies, including anti-communism and critiques of traditional media.

Following the acquisition of a 50% stake in 2024 by Spanish journalist Javier Negre, the platform has expanded its reach significantly. Negre has since become the sole owner. Investigations by outlets such as Chequeado, Factchequeado, and La Silla Vacía indicate that the network frequently disseminates disinformation. In Colombia, the outlet reportedly used AI-generated fake news and recycled old videos to support the campaign of President Abelardo de la Espriella.

While Cerimedo was recently arrested in Bolivia on charges related to attempted femicide, Negre maintains that Cerimedo no longer has any link to the media organization.
