La Défense hosts massive street art exhibition in vacant office building

The Zoo Art Show has transformed an unoccupied office building in La Défense, Europe’s primary business district, into a massive street art exhibition. Spanning 4,000 square meters across four floors, the installation features works from nearly 400 artists, including graffiti, tags, calligraphy, and 3D pieces.

Created by producer Antoine Roblot, the exhibition is designed to trace the evolution of the medium, moving from raw street graffiti on the lower levels to more polished works typically found in galleries and museums on the top floor. While the district has been a hub for graffiti since the 1980s due to its transit connections, this large-scale showcase formalizes the presence of urban art within the ultra-urbanized business center.

Artists participating in the show, such as Darco and Shuck2, noted that while the movement has become more commercialized and sometimes more decorative, La Défense remains a significant historical site for the culture.
