La Dolce Vita luxury train experiences technical fault in Romania

A carriage on the La Dolce Vita Orient Express, a luxury train traveling the Rome-Istanbul route, experienced a technical failure on the Videle-Giurgiu section of the Romanian railway network. The malfunction occurred in the penultimate carriage of the 14-car train between Videle and Rădulești.

The luxury service, a partnership between Italian company Arsenale S.p.A., the Orient Express brand owned by Accor, and the Italian railway group FS, features restored 1980s-era Trenitalia Z1 carriages. The train arrived in Brașov on Sunday morning as part of its scheduled journey through the Carpathian Mountains, with planned stops in Sinaia before continuing toward the Bulgarian border.

Tickets for the five-day experience, which includes gourmet dining by Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck, start at 20,000 euros. The train is scheduled to reach Chitila to switch from an electric to a diesel locomotive before proceeding toward Giurgiu Nord.
