La Faraona 2024 wine receives perfect 100-point ratings

The La Faraona 2024 red wine, produced by Descendientes de J. Palacios in the Bierzo region of Spain, has achieved a perfect 100-point rating from The Wine Advocate-Robert Parker. This follows a recent 100-point score from British critic Tim Atkin, placing the vintage among the highest-rated Spanish wines on the international premium market.

Made from Mencía grapes sourced from a classified vineyard in Corullón, León, the 2024 vintage is characterized by a limited production. The release includes 1,273 standard bottles, 40 magnums, seven double magnums, and five jeroboams. The wine underwent a 26-day short maceration and malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.

Critic Luis Gutiérrez described the bottled wine as an “extraordinary expression” featuring a combination of power, concentration, and depth with refined texture. Ricardo ‘Titín’ Palacios characterized the vintage as “the quintessence of elegance,” noting the balance between strength and subtlety achieved despite a rainy period during the growing season.
