La Filarmonica della Scala begins European tour in Santander

La Filarmonica della Scala de Milán is launching a new European tour, beginning on August 28 at the 75th edition of the Festival Internacional de Santander (FIS). Led by maestro Riccardo Chailly, the tour will include performances in San Sebastián, Linz, Prague, Turin, and Rimini.

The program in Santander features works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, including Piano Concerto No. 4 with soloist Alexander Malofeev, and pieces by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This tour holds particular significance as it marks one of the final major international appearances for Chailly before he concludes his leadership of La Scala at the end of 2026. He will be succeeded by Myung-Whun Chung in 2027.
