Léa Fontaine denounces physical attacks after Lausanne Grand Slam victory

French judoka Léa Fontaine has denounced a wave of social media attacks targeting her physical appearance following her victory at the Lausanne Grand Slam in the +78 kg category. The 25-year-old athlete, who secured her fourth Grand Slam title by defeating compatriot Romane Dicko, rose to the world number one ranking in her category following the win.

Fontaine stated that while she respects technical sporting analysis and debate, the repeated mockery and personal attacks aimed at her body exceed the limits of normal sporting exchange. She noted that the harassment has begun to affect her loved ones, prompting her to seek legal counsel and take appropriate measures.

The French Judo Federation and fellow athletes, including Dicko, have expressed support for Fontaine. The athlete emphasized that competitors should not be humiliated or reduced to their appearance after winning a competition.
