La Française de l’Énergie starts two new production units in Rouvignies
La Française de l’Énergie (FDE) has commenced operations at two new production units at its Rouvignies site in the Hauts-de-France region. These 1.5 MW engines utilize gas from the S16 borehole, which has a methane content exceeding 80%.
With this expansion, FDE’s total fleet has grown to 19 production engines, marking a 27% increase since June 2026. The company aims to double its low-carbon electricity production capacity within the next three years.
The production at the Rouvignies site is estimated to power approximately 3,500 households and prevent the emission of 550,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year. FDE’s operations are supported by 15-year purchase obligation contracts with EDF, priced at €80 per MWh and indexed to inflation.
