La France Insoumise summer 'Amfis' event faces criticism over high ticket prices

The radical left movement La France Insoumise is holding its annual summer gathering, called “Amfis,” in the Drôme region near Valence from 20 to 23 August 2026. The event is presented as a political‑cultural festival and a launch platform for Jean‑Luc Mélenchon’s 2027 presidential campaign, with Mélenchon scheduled to speak twice. Tickets are priced at €165 for three days for a typical attendee, but the price can rise to €400 for a full‑package pass. Critics argue the fees are steep compared with other parties’ events – for example, the Socialist Party’s campus in Blois costs about €40 – and question the claim that the pricing is “solidarity‑based” given the recent decline in French household purchasing power.
