LA Galaxy defeat San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 in California Clasico

The LA Galaxy secured a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes in the latest California Clasico at Dignity Health Sports Park. Joseph Paintsil scored the decisive short-handed goal in the 79th minute, assisted by rookie defender Harbor Miller and Marco Reus.

The Galaxy played much of the second half with ten men after midfielder Lucas Sanabria received a second yellow card late in the first half. Goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski recorded his third clean sheet of the season, making five saves to preserve the lead.

The win snaps a winless streak for Los Angeles, while the Earthquakes continue a difficult stretch, having dropped three consecutive matches. The match also featured the home debut of Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano for the Galaxy.

Following this result, the LA Galaxy are scheduled to face CF Montreal, while the San Jose Earthquakes will host Minnesota United.
