La Garde restaurant fire forces evacuation of 50 people
A major fire broke out in the kitchen of a Carl's Jr. fast-food restaurant in La Garde, near Toulon, on Friday evening around 9:00 PM. The flames spread from the kitchen to the building's roof, covering approximately 100 square meters of roofing.
Emergency services ordered an immediate evacuation of the establishment, which was in the middle of service. Approximately 50 people, including 30 customers and 20 staff members, were safely evacuated. A 19-year-old employee was treated at Sainte Musse Hospital for minor smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported.
The Service Départemental d’Incendie et de Secours du Var (SDIS 83) deployed 40 firefighters to the scene. The response included four fire engines, two large aerial ladders to combat the roof fire, two ambulances, a nurse vehicle, and a mobile command post.
