La Gomera launches phytosanitary waste collection campaign

The Cabildo de La Gomera has launched a campaign to collect expired or unused phytosanitary product containers. The initiative will take place across the island's six municipalities from September 21 to September 25.

To facilitate proper waste management, the program utilizes a combination of fixed collection points and an itinerant service. A truck will remain in primary designated areas, while a van will perform complementary routes through neighborhoods and more remote rural areas.

Casimiro Curbelo, president of the Cabildo, stated that the campaign aims to serve primary sector professionals, particularly those in isolated locations, to ensure responsible agricultural activity and environmental protection. Noelia Morales, the island's counselor for the Primary Sector, noted that the wide-reaching itinerary is designed to provide maximum convenience for farmers and professionals.
