La Gomera lawmaker proposes healthcare services at Tenerife's Hospital del Sur

Jesús Ramos, deputy for the Agrupación Socialista Gomera (ASG) parliamentary group, has proposed that the expansion of the Hospital del Sur in Tenerife include medical services for patients from La Gomera. Currently, residents of La Gomera must travel to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria for specialized care.

During a session in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Ramos argued that utilizing the hospital expansion—a project involving an investment of over 40 million euros—would optimize healthcare resources, reduce costs, and lower the carbon footprint by minimizing necessary travel. He urged the Ministry of Health to study this possibility to improve healthcare accessibility for non-capital islands.
