La Gomera to host 65th edition of Jornadas Colombinas

The island of La Gomera will host the 65th edition of the Jornadas Colombinas from September 2 to 18. Under the theme ‘Tras las huellas de la Historia’ (Following the Footsteps of History), the event aims to use historical knowledge to interpret the present and address future challenges.

Presented by Cabildo President Casimiro Curbelo and Cultural Councilor Rosa Elena García, the program is designed to be multidisciplinary and reach all six municipalities of the island. The festivities will include conferences, music, cinema, literature, heritage, popular traditions, and gastronomy.

Curbelo emphasized that the event seeks to position La Gomera and the Canary Islands as a ‘tricontinental meeting point’ between Europe, Africa, and America, fostering dialogue on democracy, memory, and coexistence.
