La Guaira authorities relocate caimans from Caraballeda golf course
Authorities in La Guaira have begun the capture and relocation of caimans living in the artificial lagoon of the Caraballeda golf course. The operation was launched as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of families using the golf course as an improvised shelter following recent earthquakes.
Specialized wildlife management teams and environmental experts coordinated the extraction to minimize stress and injury to the reptiles. The animals, including an adult female measuring between 1.50 and 1.60 meters, are being transferred to protected natural habitats away from populated areas.
The golf course has served multiple roles for earthquake victims, functioning as a shelter for hundreds of families, an improvised hospital, a donation collection center, and a landing site for helicopters.
