La Guaira Chamber of Commerce proposes beach reopening pilot

The La Guaira Chamber of Commerce has proposed a pilot plan to reopen beaches in Macuto, requesting that authorities reconsider the current closures following recent earthquakes. Chamber officials, including Director Shirley Camarán and First Vice President Cipriana Ramos, argue that the local economy and the emotional well-being of residents depend heavily on beach activity.

Camarán warned that prolonged closures could lead to a spike in unemployment, as many families rely on weekend tourism for their livelihoods. Ramos maintained that the necessary conditions for reopening are already met, noting that the absence of active heavy machinery in certain areas should allow for a partial reopening of the Paseo de Macuto.
