La Guaira earthquake relief: CAF and PepsiCo mobilize millions in aid

Relief efforts are underway for communities in La Guaira, Venezuela, following a double earthquake. Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF (Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean), announced that the fund established to support those affected has collected over $9 million, with total commitments exceeding $14 million. The bank will execute these resources under international audit, prioritizing the recovery of housing and educational institutions to ensure students do not miss the upcoming school year.

CAF has already distributed internal funds to seven organizations specializing in mental health, physical rehabilitation, orthopedics, and hospital care. The bank estimates that addressing the full emergency will require between $17 billion and $22 billion in public and private contributions.

In addition to institutional support, PepsiCo Venezuela has mobilized over $218,000 through economic contributions, product donations, and corporate volunteering. This includes donating snacks and beverages to La Guaira and Aragua, providing 2,500 boxes to the Food Bank of Venezuela, and assisting in the organization of humanitarian supplies such as hygiene products and essential medicines.
