La Guaira rehabilitates over 100 schools following seismic damage

More than 100 educational institutions in the state of La Guaira, Venezuela, have been fully rehabilitated following damage caused by recent seismic events. During the formal handover of the Juan Pablo II Educational Unit in Catia La Mar, Minister of Education Héctor Rodríguez announced that the government is also prioritizing 87 other schools nationwide that have sustained serious structural damage.

To ensure academic continuity and the operation of the School Feeding Program (PAE), a temporary school rezoning has been implemented for students and teachers while reinforcement works continue. Governor José Alejandro Terán noted that the rehabilitation of these centers was completed within six weeks through coordination between government levels and local communities.

In a separate social response effort, Movistar donated 500 school kits to students of the Venezuelan Association of Catholic Education (AVEC) in La Guaira. The distribution began at the Madre Emilia College in Maiquetía and will continue across the region. Additionally, the company provided technological equipment to the local AVEC branch to support its operational capacity during the recovery period.
