La Guaira teenager celebrates 15th birthday amid earthquake recovery
In the aftermath of the double earthquakes that struck La Guaira on June 24, a teenager named Nicole celebrated her 15th birthday in a temporary camp as an act of resilience. The celebration took place at the C.E.I. 5 de Julio school, located within the Hugo Chávez urban development, which currently serves as a military logistics center.
The event was organized through a network of volunteers and rescuers following the loss of Nicole's home and her brother in the disaster. Despite the lack of electricity in the area, rescuers provided lighting using rechargeable lamps. The modest celebration was made possible through donations coordinated by a volunteer, allowing the teenager to celebrate despite the ongoing devastation in the surrounding Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi area.
