La Irenita wins 61st Abierto del Jockey Club polo title
La Irenita won the 61st Abierto del Jockey Club title after defeating Las Monjitas with a score of 13-9 at the Jockey Club in San Isidro. The tournament featured five high-handicap teams ranging between 28 and 34 goals.
Led by captain Pablo Mac Donough, the winning La Irenita roster included Matías Mac Donough, Paco de Narváez, and Beltrán Laulhé. Matías Mac Donough was named the tournament MVP and received recognition for the best registered polo breed player, Irenita Ronda.
The Las Monjitas team, composed of Rufino Bensadón, Lucas Criado, Juan Britos, and Jerónimo del Carril, maintained a competitive presence early in the match but struggled to match La Irenita’s momentum during the second half. This victory serves as a key precursor to the upcoming Triple Crown season, including the opens at Hurlingham, Tortugas, and Palermo.
