La Laguna begins flood prevention works in Tejina

The La Laguna City Council has commenced infrastructure works to address recurring flooding on the TF-161 road at Camino de la Costa in the Tejina urban center. The project involves an investment of 387,976 euros to install new stormwater drainage networks.

The intervention aims to mitigate issues caused by heavy rainfall, particularly at the lower elevation near number 54 of Camino de la Costa. The current drainage system is considered precarious, often resulting in water overflowing into the streets. The new system will include transverse grates and collectors designed to divert runoff toward the Las Cuevas ravine.

Ángel Chinea, the Councilor for Works, Infrastructure, and Accessibility, noted that the project is a high demand from both local residents and drivers due to concerns regarding road safety and infrastructure maintenance. The works are expected to be completed within five months.
