La Laguna hosts Orígenes World Music & Latidos Fest

La Laguna is preparing to host a new edition of the Orígenes World Music & Latidos Fest, a cultural initiative supported by the Aguere City Council. The festival aims to promote root music as a space for cultural exchange and contemporary creation.

The program features two main performances at the Convento de Santo Domingo. On October 8 at 20:00, Mariaa Siga will perform, followed by Coumbis Sorra on October 15 at the same time.

The event focuses on the diversity of African music and its connections to other sonic languages. Coumbis Sorra, a singer and composer from Casamance, Senegal, is noted for her ability to blend Mandinka music, blues, jazz, and Afro-Mandinka rhythms, bridging traditional roots with modern experimentation.
