La Laguna brings ‘Botiquín Emocional’ to local schools
The La Laguna City Council is reinstating the ‘Botiquín Emocional’ (Emotional First Aid Kit) project for the 2026-2027 school year. The initiative is specifically designed for sixth-grade primary school students to provide practical tools for recognizing and managing emotions in daily life.
Through the municipal Department of Education, the program focuses on teaching students about the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and its connection to moods, physical sensations, and emotions. The curriculum utilizes dynamic sessions, symbolic play, and therapeutic theater to promote self-regulation and co-regulation among peers, aiming to improve interpersonal relationships and help students handle frustration or conflict.
The project, which has been part of the municipality's emotional wellbeing strategy since 2024, previously reached all 27 schools in the municipality. It remains part of a broader range of complementary educational activities offered to local primary schools.
